Rivermen take on Eagles for third straight game

For the third time in a week, the Rivermen and Eagles will square off against eachother. The BCHL league office made it clear that they want the Langley- Surrey rivalry at an all time high to start this season with the Chiefs re location to Chilliwack. A winner will be determined tonight in this mini best of three series that has seen the away team win both games so far. Matt Esposito will make his debut tonight as he was sidelined to start the season with a mild concussion and will play on the second line it looks like. Meanwhile Danny Vlanich will sit out once again with an upper body injury that he suffered in the first game on a check from behind by Tyler Morley. Expect him to miss the rest of the weekend in Powell River.

The Rivermen have been working hard all week to correct the mistakes they made last Saturday in a 5-2 loss. One mistake that cost them the game was special teams as Surrey scored three times on the power play and once short handed. The Eagles like to work the back door play when on the man advantage with a defensemen streaking off the blueline towards the net in hopes of being untouched. Linden Saip did that exact play to score the games first goal just over the two minute mark of the first period. Im sure the team has seen that play all week in the video session everyday….Tune into the broadcast tonight with myself (Brandon Astle) and Vic LeMire at 6:45 pm for the Pre Game show. http://www.ustream.tv/channel/langley-rivermen-hockey
