The Langley Rivermen suffered a tough 6-3 loss against the Coquitlam Express on Saturday night at the Langley Events Centre. The previous night before it was the Rivermen winning in Coquitlam 5-2, so this time around Coquitlam paid back the favour in Langley’s barn.
In the first period the Express really came out flying scoring 3 times with goals from Georgeson, Petan and Michelle. Evan Campbell scored the lone Rivermen goal in between the Express goals making it a 3-1 score after 20 minutes of play. The second period was a much more tame frame, with both teams swapping goals, Alex Petan scored for Coquitlam with Chris Tracy replying for Langley which led to a 4-2 score after two periods of play. In the third period, the Express put the game away with Ryan and Shaw scoring less than 5 minutes apart. Austin Plevy scored the last goal of the game in the late stages, but was not enough as Coquitlam skated away with the 2 points. Khaleed Devji was a wall in net for the Express all night facing 31 shots, while Jim Kruger took the loss facing 37 pucks.
The Rivermen will not have to wait long to try and get back in the win column as they will host the Powell River Kings at 2 PM.
