The Langley Rivermen did not make any moves on yesterday’s trade deadline. The only move they made was a few days previous when forward Peter McMullen (93) was acquired from the Vernon Vipers for future considerations. A spot was opened up when Aidan Cavallini (92) was released from the club. Peter is a big forward at 6’2″, 205 pounds and had 3 goals and 4 assists in 22 games for Vernon this season. He has a committment to Boston College, which is a very good division 1 school that plays in the tough Hockey East Conference, which is called “the nation’s premier Hockey Conference”, so you know he has some upside.
It was a relatively quiet deadline day up until about 4 PM, where Wade Murphy of the Victoria Grizzlies (leading scorer in the Coastal Conference at the time) was dealt to the Penticton Vees who only have 3 regulation losses all season. Yes the rich get richer. Former Grizzlies Jaryd Ten Vaanholt, Jamie Tucker, Mike Collins, and Mike Moran also have new area codes as well.
As for the Rivermen, with 22 games left in the season the team will go with what it’s got and we all know this team has potential to be a threat on any given night, it is just a matter of playing consistent. They are still a young team with the potential of 18 players coming back next season and will only get better from here on out.
