RIVERMEN GAMEDAY: Rivermen @ Eagles

The Rivermen will travel to Surreyfor the first time since September 30th. Tonight’s game will mark the sixth meeting overall with the Eagles leading the season series 3-2. The two teams met last on February 1st at the Langley Events Centre and turned out to be an ugly game for the home team as the Eagles won by a score of 8-2. This contest will be the second meeting of the four to come in the month of February as both teams will host two games each.

The Rivermen still sit in eighth place overall and will look to bounce back after a tough 3-2 loss toCowichanValleyon Thursday. For my money the Rivermen deserved a better fate as they really did play a strong game, but could not beat a hot goaltender in Brady Rouleau. On the other side of the coin, the Eagles sit in second place in the ‘Coast with 67 points and have a game in hand on first place Powell River. The ‘Birds have been rolling of late and have points in their last 13 games and continue to receive strong goaltending from Andrew Hunt who is the reigning BCHL player of the week.

The South Surrey Arena is always a tough place to play for the away team as the Eagles may have the best team speed in the BCHL and know how to utilize the olympic sized ice to their advantage. If the Rivermen play anything like they did on Thursday night against the ‘Caps, it will be a great Hockey game. The new line combinations of 27-17-8,10-14-12, 18-21-20, looked like their was some chemistry there and shouldn’t have a problem putting up points if they play the way they did againstCowichanValley.

It will be a 7 PMpuck drop from the SSA and can be heard live at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/langley-rivermen-hockey
