The West Kelowna Warriors were able to get all four points against the Rivermen on the weekend. They definitely lived up to the hype as they were great in all facets of the game. They are sound defensively, dangerous on the offensive side of the puck and they have one of the best goaltenders in the league in Tyler Briggs.
On Friday night the Rivermen seemed like they were a step behind from the second period on and eventually fell to a final score of 4-1 on home ice. The Warriors were suffocating all night long and played a near perfect road game. Saturday night was a much better effort from the Rivermen, but still came up short 4-3 in the end. Langley led 2-0 at one point in the second period, but the Warriors scored three straight goals to end the frame and took a lead into the third where they then closed it out.
Holding the lead has been an issue the past couple of games, but they will find the solution. The team has too much talent for it to become an ongoing issue and I can assure you that they are determined to put these tough losses behind them and learn from it. There are two big home games coming up on the weekend starting with Prince George on Friday night. The Spruce Kings currently sit in third place in the division with 16 points, which is five more than the ‘Men and they definitely do not want to be down seven after Friday. The squad will then welcome the Vernon Vipers on Saturday night to close out the weekend. Four big points up for grabs to say the least.
