The Langley Rivermen and Global BC are excited to announce details for the team’s home opener on Saturday, October 4 at the Langley Events Centre. The Rivermen will host the Nanaimo Clippers at 7:00PM.
Global BC will be giving away Rivermen foam fingers to the first 1,500 fans. People will also get 2-for-1 entry into the game by contributing to Global BC’s food drive with a food or cash donation. Fans are asked to bring their food or donation to the LEC Ticket Office for redemption.
“Global BC is excited to team up with the Rivermen and support Food Bank BC,” said Carolyn Smith, Director of Marketing for Global BC. “All proceeds collected will go to our annual Thanks For Giving Food Bank Drive now in its second successful year. This amazing collaboration will go a long way in helping families in need across our province.”
During the first intermission, two lucky fans will have the chance to participate in the Dash for Cash, presented by First West Financial. Contestants will have 60 seconds to collect as many loonies from the ice as possible. The contest will also feature Global BC’s Kaitlyn Herbst and Sonia Sunger, who will donate all money they secure from the ice to Global BC’s Thanks for Giving Food Drive. All proceeds collected by Kaitlyn and Sonia will be matched by First West Financial.
The LEC will also feature a carnival themed area in the banquet hall, where there will be face-painting, balloon animals and delicious food. There will be plenty of prizes given away all night.
“We are looking forward to kicking off another Rivermen season,” said Director of Business Development for the Langley Events Centre, Jared Harman. “The Home Opener should be a lively night for the fans with everything we have planned from the activities in the banquet hall for the kids to the action on the ice. Even more exciting is that we have a great opportunity to give back to local food banks, courtesy of our friends at Global BC.”
“Langley is a family based community and we want to attract fans by providing quality and affordable entertainment,” said Taylor Henderson, Director of Operations for the Rivermen. “Junior hockey is not just about hockey, it’s about being woven in the fabric of the community as productive member of the community. We want to show the community that they don’t have to leave Langley to find exciting hockey. We are looking forward to the community and the RivNation getting behind this cause.”
